My home is in San Jose, but I know a little bit about SF too. Here are some suggestions. Ferry Building, even better if there is a farmers market going on (Thursdays and Saturdays I believe). The ferry building itself has a bunch of good food stores. I would also go to the mission next to Dolores Park is a sort of foodie powerhouse with 4-5 great food destinations right next to each other. Tartine, then Pizzeria Delfina, Delfina, Bi-Rite creamery, and the Bi-Rite market too. I would also go to R&G lounge, especially when you are going because Dungeness Crab is in season. In fact, I would say its pretty important to eat some sort of Dungeness Crab no matter what. If you are a big ramen fan, it might be worth the effort to go to San Jose, as there are 4-5 great ramen shops all very close to each other. Hope this helps.
